Kaolin is an industrial layered silicate mineral Lower grade kaolin powder is pink or orange red due to iron oxide contamination. Commercial grade kaolin is transported around the world in powder form,as semi-dry noodles, and as a liquid slurry. In Paper Industry it performs two separate functions - as a filler to improve printing characteristics and as a coating pigment to enhance the surface properties of the paper such as the brightness, smoothness, gloss and ink receptivity. KORB supplies a range of kaolin products optimised for both traditional and pressure casting.

Uses :

In the ceramics industry the main function of kaolin is to impart whiteness. Its major uses are in vitreous china sanitary ware, tableware, wall tiles,electrical porcelain,refractories.Performance mineral applications use kaolin as fillers in paint, rubber, plastics and adhesives and sealants and pharmaceuticals. Other important uses include the manufacture of white cement and glass fibre.The primary industrial use of kaolin (nearly 50 percent of all consumption) is to produce paper,specifically when manufacturing glossy coated paper. It is also used in toothpaste, cosmetics, rubber vulcanization and used by the military for trauma wound care.
